The purpose of your CV is to cross the first milestone in getting a job, namely only to get called for an interview. Hence it should hold the interest of the candidate seeker just well enough to call you for an interview.
A regular format to follow would be:
- A standard two-page printed CV
- A one-page summary CV
- An online CV
You may end up having many number of CVs. This is so as it would be best to reflect how close a fit you would be as a prospective employee to the different organizations you may be applying for.
Highlight your achievements and how they relate to the job you are applying for.
Give the reader a clear indication of why you should be considered for this role.
Be honest and factual.
The first page should contain personal details for a potential employer to contact you easily.
Highlight key skills, key achievements or key attributes.
Commence your career history with your current or most recent job and work backwards.
Achievements should be short, bullet-pointed statements and include your role, the action you took and a comment on the result of your action.
Where information clearly demonstrates your suitability for the vacancy you're applying for, and enhances your chances of being short-listed, include this information near the beginning of the CV.
Include details of recent training or skills development events you have attended which could be relevant.
List all your professional memberships and relevant qualifications.
